Appointments at Manaaki
My Ethos
At Manaaki, I take a back-to-basics, whole-person approach to health and performance. What you put into your body, how you move, how you rest, and how you manage stress all shape what you get out of it. Not just now, but long term.
I work with people across the full spectrum: from those managing pain, injury or illness, through to recreational and competitive athletes. No matter where you’re starting from, my goal is the same: To help you move better, feel stronger, and build confidence in your body.
Movement is Medicine
Movement and exercise are central to my approach. Appointments go beyond hands-on treatment to address:
How you move
How your body loads and adapts
How your daily habits support or limit recovery
We will combine movement patterns, mobility work and graded loading with practical strategies you can use every day.
Education First, Empowerment Always
I believe in fewer appointments over time, with more education in each session. My aim is to empower you to take charge of your own health - not to keep you dependent on ongoing treatment.
Your sessions may include education around:
Breathing and pressure management
Anatomy and physiology (so you understand why things matter)
Exercise! Mobility, strengthening, form and technique
Pain science and nervous system regulation
Down-training and recovery strategies
Nutrition basics, hydration, and fueling for performance
Stress management, mental health, and sleep
Building resilience to prevent flare-ups and recurrences
Collaborative Care
Health works best as a team effort. I regularly work alongside GPs, gynaecologists, colorectal surgeons, midwives, trainers, coaches, dietitians and other health professionals to ensure your care is aligned, realistic, and supportive of your wider goals.
Every treatment plan is tailored to you. This allows us to create sustainable plans that fit real life - not just the clinic room.
Your First Appointment
Pre-appointment, you will be emailed some forms to fill in to help guide your treatment and funding options.
During your first appointment we will have a detailed conversation about your concerns and goals. I will ask about your symptoms, lifestyle and medical history. You do not have to speak about anything that you do not wish to disclose.
A physical assessment tailored to you: Posture, joint health, strength, internal or external vaginal or rectal exams*, functional movement testing, bladder and bowel diaries.
Some education about pelvic health and how it relates to your symptoms.
A clear explanation of findings and options.
A collaborative treatment plan.
Referral onwards for specialist care if necessary, or liaison with your GP.
*Internal examinations are never required. Yes, they are very helpful but we will only do them when needed, with full explanation and consent. These exams are gentle and are used to take measurements of the positions of the organs and strength of muscles, as well as to check for the integrity of soft tissues. There are other assessment options should you choose to not go ahead.
Consent and Comfort
Your comfort, autonomy and dignity are prioritised at all times. You are always welcome to ask questions, pause or decline any part of assessment or treatment.

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice where possible. I often have a waitlist, and this allows me to offer your session to someone else.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a $40 ‘cancellation koha’. This is not something I actively police, but it is always appreciated. This helps support the sustainability of the clinic so I can continue caring for the community.
I completely understand that unexpected things happen. If you’re unwell, please stay home, and if there’s an extenuating circumstance, the fee will not be applied.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
